Why steel-framed fabric structures cause far less disruption on base than traditional construction.
The answer is quite simple, and the advantages are significant. Steel-framed fabric structures are pre-fabricated to exacting standards at a manufacturing site and then shipped to the base for assembly. (Note: All Cocoon structures are building-code compliant.)
Assembly rather than construction greatly reduces time on base. For example, traditional construction of an aircraft hangar might take 12-18 months. We recently assembled a 40,000 sq. ft. hangar at Edwards AFB in just 4 months. And because it was pre-fabricated, we were able to do so with a far smaller crew than traditional construction.
Other benefits of being pre-fabricated off-site and quickly assembled include:
Less construction equipment coming in and out of the base.
Much shorter timeframes for road closures and re-routing traffic (if needed at all).
Less noise for a shorter period of time.
Far less construction debris.
There’s also less disruption to your budget! These structures cost far less than traditional construction, and feature virtually no sustainments cost. And they can be disassembled and relocated as needs on your base change over time.
