How this little guy protects this big guy.

The little device above plays a big role in protecting critical assets such as the JLTV pictured next to it.

In order to protect high-value assets from corrosion and other damage from the elements, they’ll often be stored in controlled humidity environments (e.g., Level III Aircraft Preservation, CHP, APS). It’s a level of storage that stops the aging process.

However, that degree of protection is possible only by maintaining consistent relative humidity (RH) levels of 40% (plus/minus 5%). Unfortunately that’s not guaranteed just because you’ve built a controlled humidity environment. Sometimes doors are inadvertently left open, or opened wide on a nice day. Or the dehumidification systems are switched off by mistake, or there’s a power outage or equipment failure.

So how do you make sure your assets remain fully protected?

The best way to ensure success is to install a comprehensive monitoring/reporting system. Our CFE Assurance Program includes smart sensors, like the one pictured above, to continually monitor RH levels. The system includes real-time alerts when the facility is out of spec, and provides regular reports to assure that the RH targets are being met.
