C-130 Aviation Insulation
Cocoon hasn’t just modernized the C-130 interior insulation system, we’ve revolutionized it.
Utilizing patented designs that combine technical textiles, the new system features air-permeable batting and blankets that provide better protection from hull corrosion. In addition, the new attachment system allows for insulation in the tail section for the first time.
This new system is even designed to make installation, removal, inspection, and replacement simple and easy.
Modernizing the C-130
Interior Insulation System
The Cocoon C-130 Interior Insulation System is a fully-integrated combination of batting, blankets, and attachment hardware featuring:
Air-permeability that prevents moisture build-up against the airframe to mitigate/prevent corrosion.
Materials that are oleophobic and hydrophobic so they won’t absorb water, oils, lubricants, etc.
Compression-fit batting that does not require adhesives, making it easy to remove and re-install.
Both batting and blankets that are fire-resistant and inherently anti-static.
An attachment system that allows for insulation in the tail section.
Attachment hardware that keeps the blankets firmly in place while also allowing easy removal and reducing FOD risk.
A robust supply chain that makes it easy to order replacement panels.

Improved Batting (IBAT)
At the center of the new batting’s 5-layer design is an open cell foam that allows moisture to escape without sacrificing thermal and acoustic performance. The facing and backing layers are durable, fire-resistant, and inherently anti-static.
Improved Thermal & Acoustic Blanket (ITAB)
ITAB also employs a 5-layer design with a microporous membrane that features over a billion pores per square inch. Those pores prevent liquids from entering the blanket while at the same time allowing water vapor to escape, preventing moisture from being trapped behind the panels.
C-130 Aviation Insulation Features
Cocoon Aviation Insulation is designed to meet the needs of today’s modern Air Force by directly addressing deficiencies in previous solutions.
Hull/Frame corrosion is responsible for over 500,000 Non-Available Hours annually in the Air Force. (LMI)
Before & After Modernization
