Cocoon Covers are manufactured from a proprietary three-layer laminated textile. The outer layer is an extremely durable face fabric which reduces glare. The inner core is a unique membrane that is permeable to allow moisture and heat to escape, waterproof, sandproof, and permanently oleophobic so that gun grease and similar chemicals will not degrade performance. The inside layer is selected and tested for its abrasion resistance in order to protect aircraft windscreens and other surfaces.
Performance Life and Field Testing
Results following four month exposure in both extreme outdoor environment and Xenon Lamp chamber (UV-specific testing environment), as well as in the Iraq theater:

- 100% tear strength retention
- 100% waterproofness retention
- No change in air permeability
- Moisture permeability remained exceptionally high
