South Street Station, Naragansett Power Company, Rhode Island, USA
The 110MW, coal-fired South Street Station was placed in long-term standby in 1990. Cocoon worked with project engineer Austin Seaver to provide dry air protection for the entire plant. More than 40 major components were protected using only five Munters Cargocaire dessicant dehumidifiers.

This economy was made possible through careful site analysis and by making each major component leak-tight with Cocoon’s unique Protective Sealing System (PSS). The tough, self-supporting vinyl covering system is formed in place over openings that would otherwise leak air. Since the system is sealed, dry air can be reused and circulate through many components. This means the system is less expensive to purchase and operate, while providing better protection than other dry air systems which do not seal all components.
