Greenhouse Effect

The corrosive effects of heat, moisture, and other chemical contaminants, are greatly EFFECT amplified in a trapped/enclosed space.

For example, when equipment is placed under a non-breathable, impermeable cover, condensation occurs on surfaces. Ambient air enters from the outside and rises up. The interaction of this air stream with a cooler boundary layer of air causes localized high humidity and condensation. This trapped moisture is what facilitates oxidation and the process of corrosion. It is sometimes referred to as a “greenhouse effect” based on its similarity to how ozone becomes trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere.
